// An ode to one of the nine glens of Antrim //

The ebb and flow of tides and the meandering water of rivers nourishes, recharges, and creates. Amongst these ever moving currents, you can find stones of pure wonder - hag stones.

The hag stones I have found while exploring coastlines and living by the North Sea have done nothing short of fuel my imagination and adoration for these curative amulets of supernatural power - this is why I wanted to make my own ode to this iconic symbol.

I live in a space where once a potter dwelled; due to this, there are pieces of terracotta and porcelain clay amongst the soil. I mould organic forms by hand from these recycled clays, holding a part of the history of the small piece of land which I call home. Once shaped, I set this in a hand-mixed mould and wait for this to set - creating an inverse shape of the porcelain form to pour the molten metal into and begin forging these unique pieces. The waiting and patience of this small formation is but a microcosm of what the earth does over thousands of years.

Heating molten metal and seeing what nature decides to formulate from the combination, this is a bespoke piece, each one differing from casting to casting. Forged in pewter, filed and finished by hand.
The organic formation of these pieces allows them to look like kin to these ancient stones – they could fall within the mud for hundreds of years, and be found again, perfectly suited to their earthly home.

Each piece is lovingly hand-carved, hand-cast, handmade, and hand finished. They are made from lead-free pewter which is safe for your skin and hard wearing.
